A Sudoku Moment is the classic logic puzzle the way it feels with a pencil: a sheet of grid paper, the digits you fill in, and your own reasoning. Nothing else.

No hints. No highlighting. No digit turning red the moment you slip. You find out whether you got it right when the last cell is filled, just as with a puzzle printed in a newspaper.

grid_on Puzzles Worth Solving

  • Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by logic alone, without guessing.
  • Five difficulties (Newbie, Easy, Normal, Hard and Expert). From Easy up, they are graded by the hardest technique a puzzle needs rather than by how many digits it gives. A Newbie puzzle is an Easy one with more digits given.
  • The givens are placed symmetrically, as in a classic printed puzzle.

  • Tap a cell, then fill in a digit. Erase a cell or undo your last step, and nothing more.
  • Nothing checks your digits while you play. When the board is full it is checked, and if digits clash you'll see where and can fix them.
  • The time is always measured, but stays out of sight unless you choose to show it.

history Your Games, Kept

  • Stop at any time. Every move is saved, and you pick up the game you left as soon as you come back.
  • Keep up to 20 games in progress and switch between them.
  • Every solved puzzle is kept until you delete it. Mark favorites, filter by country or region, and play any puzzle again from its givens.
  • Statistics for each difficulty: games completed and abandoned, best time, average time, and the average of your last ten games, which shows whether you are getting faster.
  • If you like, the app records the city where you solve each puzzle, like a travel diary. Places are looked up offline, stay on your device and are never shared.

Send a link which opens the puzzle in A Sudoku Moment, or an image of it to solve on paper. Only the puzzle is shared, never your digits, your name or your places.

  • Comfort: lower contrast and warm colors, for long sessions without eye strain.
  • Standard: higher contrast, on a white or dark background like the rest of your device, and optimized for e-ink screens.
  • Laid out for phones held either way, foldables, tablets, iPad and split screen.
